Mountains ADAPT Small Grants
About
The Mountains ADAPT Small Grants program is a vital initiative designed to safeguard the unique and vulnerable ecosystems of East African mountain regions. Recognizing that mountain communities are on the front lines of the climate crisis, this program empowers locally-based organizations to lead the charge in building resilience. By focusing on ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA), the program aims to protect natural biodiversity while simultaneously improving the livelihoods of those who depend on these majestic landscapes. This is more than just a funding opportunity; it is a call to action for grassroots leaders to pioneer sustainable solutions that can withstand the increasing pressures of climate change.
Selected projects will join a prestigious cohort of up to 15 initiatives across the East African Community (EAC), receiving the resources necessary to transform innovative ideas into tangible impact. The program prioritizes inclusive approaches that ensure no one is left behind, emphasizing community engagement and the preservation of mountain environments. Whether it is restoring degraded slopes, managing water resources, or diversifying local economies, the Mountains ADAPT Small Grants program provides the critical financial and technical support needed to ensure that mountain regions—and the people who call them home—can thrive for generations to come.
