Scholarships for College Students: 2026 Complete Guide
Scholarships aren't just for high school seniors. There are awards specifically for current college students — and far less competition for them.
By year of study
Sophomore and junior-year scholarships are dramatically less competitive than freshman awards because most students stop applying after their first year.
By major
Engineering, nursing, education, computer science, and business have dedicated industry-funded scholarships through professional associations.
By identity and background
First-generation, minority, LGBTQ+, women in STEM, military family, and adult learner scholarships are widely available and underapplied.
Through your university
Departmental scholarships are often awarded by application or by professor nomination. Ask your advisor and department chair every semester.
