MEXT Undergraduate Scholarship in Japan 2027
About
The MEXT Undergraduate Scholarship, funded by Japan's Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology, offers a fully funded opportunity for international students to pursue bachelor's degrees at leading Japanese universities. This highly competitive program aims to cultivate both academic and professional skills, fostering stronger international relations. Awardees first undertake a mandatory one-year preparatory course, which includes intensive Japanese language instruction and core subjects tailored to their chosen field (Social Sciences/Humanities or Natural Sciences). This preparatory stage ensures students are well-equipped for their university studies, which will be conducted in Japanese. The scholarship covers significant expenses, making higher education in Japan accessible to talented individuals worldwide. Students will benefit from state-of-the-art facilities and immerse themselves in Japanese culture alongside global peers. The specific host university is determined by MEXT based on screening results, preparatory progress, and academic preferences.
