Training on Litigation of Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights

About

The Centre for Human Rights, University of Pretoria, is proud to announce a call for applications for its prestigious Training on Litigation of Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR). This intensive program is strategically designed to empower legal practitioners and human rights defenders across Africa with the technical skills needed to litigate sensitive SRHR issues before both national courts and regional human rights bodies. As the landscape of reproductive justice continues to evolve, this training serves as a critical intervention for those seeking to challenge systemic barriers and advocate for the rights of marginalized populations.

Participants will engage in a rigorous curriculum that blends theoretical knowledge with practical advocacy strategies. The course explores the intersection of international human rights law and local socio-legal challenges, focusing on issues such as maternal health, access to safe abortion services, and the prevention of reproductive violence. By bringing together diverse voices from across the continent, the Centre aims to foster a robust community of practice capable of driving legal reform and ensuring that regional mechanisms like the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights are effectively utilized to protect bodily autonomy.
